U Got Ur Nerve
In the world premiere of Enrique Urueta’s Learn to Be Latina at Impact Theatre, Hanan is an aspiring pop singer. She even has a record label interested in her — until they find out she’s of Middle Eastern heritage. That’s ok, actually, as long as she pretends to be Latina instead.
I thought it would be fun if we did a fake pop-song video for Hanan and tried to pass it off as a real singer we’d discovered. That gambit didn’t work, but we had fun making the video, and the show was a blockbuster success all by itself.
Fun Fact We shot the entire video in under three hours, and it went live two days later.
